Between December 6-7, 2024, the Academic Development Center of the West University of Timișoara (CDA-UVT), under the aegis of the Romanian Association for Research in Education (ARCE), is pleased to invite you to the first edition of the conference Training of University Teachers in the 21st Century: Innovation, Collaboration and Technology, an event dedicated exclusively to the pedagogical training of university teachers.
Scopul conferinței constă în explorarea bunelor practici existente de formare pedagogică a universitarilor la nivel național și în contextul consorțiilor europene din care fac parte universitățile românești, dar și a evidențelor empirice și modelelor de succes de la nivel internațional.
Evenimentul va aborda subiecte cheie precum pedagogia centrată pe student, integrarea tehnologiei în educație și colaborările interuniversitare și internaționale. Participanții vor avea ocazia să participe la o serie de prezentări și paneluri cu experți renumiți, ateliere interactive, dar și să beneficieze de oportunități valoroase de networking.

Keynote speakers - December 6, 2024
Marian D. ILIE, Ph.D. in Education Sciences, is a university professor, Director of the Department for Teacher Training (DPPD) and coordinator of the Center for Academic Development (CDA) at the West University of Timisoara. He coordinates initial and in-service teacher training activities, both pre-university and university, as well as educational research projects. Her research is mainly focused on topics such as instructional design and pedagogical training of university teachers. He has coordinated, as project director and/or principal investigator, over 15 projects funded by UEFISCDI, CNFIS, the Romanian Government and the European Commission. He is the author of more than 40 papers, including articles published in top international journals indexed Web of Science, in the field of Educational and Educational Research.
Lucian CIOLAN is a professor of Educational and Social Policies and Research Methodology at the Department of Educational Sciences, Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences and Vice-Rector responsible for the Development Projects and Lifelong Learning portfolio at the University of Bucharest. He is President of the Romanian Association for Research in Education (ARCE) and Secretary General of the European Association for Research in Education (EERA). Lucian Ciolan represents Romania in the IEA General Assembly. He is a member of various national agencies in the field of education and research such as the ARACIS Council, CNATDCU etc. He has published numerous important works in nationally and internationally recognized journals and publishing houses and has been involved in extensive development and consultancy projects in public education policies, in various countries (e.g., Germany, Portugal, Kazakhstan, Serbia, Republic of Moldova etc.).
Adrian OPRE is a professor at the Department of Psychology and Dean of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the “Babeș-Bolyai” University (UBB) in Cluj-Napoca, president of the Association of Cognitive Sciences in Romania and president of the Didactic Council of UBB. He has made important contributions in the development of programs aimed at developing socio-emotional skills in children and adolescents, as well as in the compatibility of psychological counseling with pastoral counseling. An important place among his areas of interest is occupied by the training of teaching staff in university and pre-university education. He is a member of numerous international academic associations and coordinator of major research projects. He has published over 80 scientific articles in national and international journals and over 20 specialized volumes, being an active promoter of innovation in education and psychology.
Keynote speakers - December 7, 2024
Professor Romiță IUCU is the President of the Orientation and Strategic Analysis Council of the University of Bucharest and a distinguished professor in the field of higher education, educational management and professionalization of teaching careers. He is currently the coordinator of the UNICA EduLAB working group, Coordinator of the European Diploma Subgroup of FOR-EU and Romania’s representative in the “Future of Bologna” working group. As Interim Rector and Vice Rector for more than 16 years, respectively member of the Steering Committee for Learning and Teaching of the Association of European Universities (EUA), he has contributed significantly to the development of educational policies and quality assurance in Romanian and European higher education. Prof. Iucu is included in the International Hall of Fame for Adult and Continuing Education, Magna Charta Observatory Ambassador, Doctor Honoris Causa of UVT and decorated with the Order of Merit for Teaching.
Nicoleta Laura POPA, a university professor at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași, holds the position of Vice-Rector for International Relations and Study and Research Partnerships. With a remarkable activity in the field of education, she coordinates the Center for Scientific Research in Education and is a member of the Laboratory of Intercultural Studies, Migration and Education. Her areas of interest include intercultural education, academic mobility, educational evaluation and education for excellence. She has had teaching and research fellowships in various European universities, is actively involved in international networks such as the Coimbra Group and is a member of the coordination team of the project that supports the Alliance of European Universities EC2U – European Campus of City-Universities.
Irina MACSINGA is a university professor at the West University of Timișoara (UVT) and Vice-Rector responsible for educational innovation, academic career and student relations. Qualified in the field of Psychology, her academic activity focuses on areas such as personality psychology, cognitive psychology and personality assessment. She has significant contributions through research published in prestigious international journals, including studies on student adaptation to the university environment or on well-being at work. She also coordinates education quality assurance initiatives within UVT and is active in promoting innovation in the educational process and in international collaborations such as UNITA European Universities, being part of the project management and implementation coordination team.
